| More About Spam Control | Login Credentials In order to access spam administrative utilities you need a login and password. The login is typically your email address, followed by a unique password just to access these utilities. If you forgot your password, follow the spam link above and click on "forgot" after filling in your email address. These controls allow you to change your password as well. Held Mail If your spam settings are configured to HOLD email that scores above a designated level, then you can review that email for up to 7 days, during which time you can choose to release desired messages into your regular inbox or delete it as spam. After logging in, click on SPAM and then HELD MESSAGES. SPAM Settings You can read more about the various spam controls after logging into the spam administration console. There are many strategies for combating spam with these tools, however, the default settings are recommended as follows: Extreme Spam Problems: HOLD mail for review that scores 4 or greater. Bounce Mail that scores 7 or greater. VANISH mail that scores 10 or above. Moderate Spam Problems: HOLD mail for review that scores 7 or greater. Never BOUNCE mail. VANISH mail that scores 10 or above. No Spam Problems: HOLD mail that scores 10 or greater. Never BOUNCE or VANISH mail. You can explore individual settings to accomplish your spam fighting objectives. You can even turn off SPAM fighting by setting HOLD, BOUNCE, and VANISH to the "never" setting. Note that setting the HELD mail to a very low number will catch more spam, but it will also catch more genuine email too. |
